Recipe of Urad Sabut

Ingredients:

 

  • 1 cup Urad Sabut (whole black gram)
  • 3 cups water
  • 1 tbsp oil or ghee
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1-inch piece of ginger, grated
  • 2 tomatoes, finely chopped
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh cilantro leaves for garnish

Instructions:

 

  • Rinse the Urad Sabut in cold water and soak it in water for at least 4-5 hours or overnight. Drain the water and set aside.
  • In a pressure cooker, heat oil or ghee over medium heat. Add cumin seeds and let them splutter.
  • Add chopped onions, garlic, and grated ginger and sauté until the onions are soft and translucent.
  • Add chopped tomatoes and cook until they are soft and mushy.
